    Is Darren Bent world class?

Post by Guest on Sun Oct 17, 2010 7:46 pm

For years now, Bent has been banging in the goals. At Ipswich he scored. At Charlton he scored. At Tottenham he scored when given the chance. And now at Sunderland he scores.

Disregarding Tottenham, these are/were lower half of the table clubs. But still, Bent banged them in as if he were playing for a top team.

So, can he be classed as World Class? Rooney and Torres can both be named in that category I'm sure. Yet whilst Man Utd have struggled of late, Rooney has gone missing. Liverpool are stuck in a relegation battle and Torres can't hit a barn door.

Bent is involved in relegation battles each season, but he still manages to clock up an impressive goal tally.

Is Bent a world class player then?

He's a very good striker, but I wouldn't say world class.

Don't forget, Rooney and Torres set the bar so high that when they play bad for a while it gets talked about, if Bent went missing for 3 games nothing much would be said.

Aye, brilliant player. Sneidjer would cost you around £40m, VDV cost £8m. Know who I'd get Neutral

I'd rather pay 40 million for VDV than Sneijder.

Don't like Sneijder at all. Dance

Defo, one of the best in the world, I'd say only Marlon Harewood is better than him in all the PL.

Bent world class? No the only way he'd be classed as world class was if he was banging in them goals for a top European side.

He was great in Mario Bros. Too bad his career never jump started and had to settle for football.

Bent is an effective striker, he is not world class by far though. That is a ridiculous notion.

He'd probably do the job more than well enough at a top side though.

I think Rafael van der Vaart needs to do more to be world class, but ability wise, I think he's world class.

A lot of players could be classed as being world class based on ability, but in terms of being a player I don't think he is anywhere near it.

He was at his best when he was playing at HSV and he has never recaptured that form since he left them.
