Has Torres been disrespectful to Liverpool?

Post by Guest on Sat Jan 29, 2011 12:00 am

He joined Liverpool to further his career, help the club move forward and win trophies.

Due to Liverpool for whatever reasons not building a sufficient squad to challenge for any Torres has had a tough time, being relied on along with Gerrard to win every game they play in. N

ow in the best years of his career Liverpool are not in the champions league, not challenging for the league title and half way through the season have been knocked out both the domestic cups and are 7th in the league.. not even looking close to getting champions league football next season.

Torres didn't hand in a transfer request at the start of January.. he waited, and about half an hour after Liverpool agree a deal for Suarez he puts one in. This says to me he didn't want to hurt Liverpools hopes of climbing the league, so when he found out they had agreed the deal for Suarez, he felt he could leave and follow his ambitions as a player without hurting Liverpool too much.

I don't think thats disrespectful, i think its very compassionate of him to even wait til the end of the transfer window when Liverpool have landed a highly rated striker, and i don't even like the cunt.

Didn't he say he was going to see out his contract?

Pretty sure it ends in 2013, not 2011. Neutral

Yes, he has. Not that I'm complaining, though. And Why would I?

Like I said in the Liverpool thread, Suarez is not a striker, he is a winger. He will not be replacing Torres in the lineup, and if Dalglish plays Suarez as a striker, than facepalm

Has he said anything else besides sending in a transfer request? You know ala Rooney?

If he did not then no.

    He is a striker-cum-winger, though.

    He can comfortably play both.

Yes because he could have given the transfer request at the start of the month to give the club time to find a replacement, but instead he does it 3 days before then end of the transfer window.

Polska he is a prolific goal scorer and im just saying Torres waited til Liverpool agreed the deal for him. Im not saying he is Torres replacement, but he will certainly help Liverpool to win games from the front.

He can play both positions, but not as effectively.

The idea was for Torres to play upfront and Suarez to play on the wing.

You're saying two different things here Polska, one thread you're saying he played behind Pantelic, next you're saying he played on the wing. Which one? Run

He was a prolific goalscorer with Pantelic last season. This season he has had Cvitanich and Ebelucio who are completely different players from Pantelic and has struggled.

It just won't work as effectively. Let me put it this way, Suarez+Torres - Suarez = 20-25+ goal a season player, Suarez Upfront or with N'Gog or whoever - Suarez = 7-12 goal a season player.

He should have said it in private to the Liverpool management at the start to give them a whole month to get a striker.

The Suarez deal isn't even done yet. So that's your theory blow to bollocks.

Good point I read, if Liverpool really didn't want to sell, why would they announce the transfer request?

Probably just looking for more clubs to start a bidding war to hike the price up.

Yeah, then they could have got Suarez in. shifty

No but seriously, lets say you have Suarez and sell Torres, you can buy a striker, any one you like (well be reasonable of course.. you'd have a lot to spend because Torres transfer money plus your owners are already well off, who would it be?

I would rather have Torrres than get Suarez. Sure i would have been disapointed that we didnt get anything, but it isn't anything compared to how i feel now.

Aguero and Suarez in the same team.. don't think it would work, they're both similar, kinda. Neutral

I was thinking, how about Milito?

I don't know if he'd actually leave though.

Maybe he did? And what's happening now is the resulting formality. Could be that.

I would get Aguero, but thats probably the obvious answer. Ermmm, there aren't many strikers out there Ibrahimovic? ( shifty ) Bojan? Lisandro Lopez? I dunno how old Lopez is though. Thomas Muller?
