Hull City Association Football Club is an English football club based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, founded in 1904. They play in the Football League Championship. In 2007–08 they achieved promotion to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history, by winning the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium. They finished the 2008–09 season 17th in the Premier League table, successfully avoiding relegation by one point. The previous highest position Hull City had finished in the English Football League was third in the old second division in 1909–10, which they matched in 2007–08 when they gained promotion. Their greatest achievement in cup competitions came in 1930, when the team reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Hull play their home games at the KC Stadium. They previously played at Boothferry Park, but moved to their current home in 2002, with Boothferry Park set for demolition. They traditionally play in black and amber, often with a striped shirt design, hence their nickname The Tigers. The club's mascot is Roary the Tiger.

ASSEM and Ehab Allam have re-negotiated their takeover deal to become 100 per cent owners of Hull City, it has been confirmed to the Mail.

It will see present owner and chairman Russell Bartlett reluctantly relinquish his full shareholding when the deal finally goes through.

It follows three weeks of tense negotiations between the parties during a 'due diligence' period.

An initial arrangement had been struck which would have allowed Bartlett to remain as a non-executive director.

Both parties claimed they could work together going forward, presenting a united front on the pitch ahead of City's last home game.

But since then the Allams have been required to put their money forward ahead of taking control simply to meet monthly bills.

And an official source has confirmed to the Mail that Bartlett will now no longer retain a stake in the club.

It has emerged the Allams have paid £833,000 into a holding account with their solicitors to guarantee a HM Revenue and Customs bill will be met on the deal's completion.

That money, which is the club's monthly PAYE bill, will now be released immediately when the Allams become owners.

Despite the financial difficulties causing further delays, the Mail understands the deal is still expected to be completed within days.

Due to the changes in planned ownership structure, the Allams will now take on the club's full £21.1m debt and the guarantees against them.

HULL City play-maker John Bostock believes he is on a rapid road to maturity under the guidance of "father figure" Nigel Pearson.

The 18-year-old, who joined on a season-long loan from Tottenham in August, has endured an erratic campaign at the KC Stadium.

Stunning goals against Swansea and Leeds provided memorable highs but starting just two of City's last 12 games, Bostock has found it difficult to hold down a place in Pearson's side.

The England under-19s star admits regular football in the Championship has been a challenge but under the tutelage of Pearson, Bostock is certain his career is heading in the right direction.

"The manager leaves quite a lot of it to me," Bostock said. "That can be a good thing because you have to mature by yourself.

"There are times where he'll come and talk to me and say 'John, do this or do that' and that helps.

"Even when I first met him I saw him as a football father figure.

"He knows when to put his arm around you so he's comforting in that way. I enjoy playing under him."

That mauled by the tigers chant is probably the most cringeworthy thing in football.

It's the hand actions that do it, I think.

Been in East Yorkshire for over 40 years. They made their money here and now this is their way of giving something back to the community. Cool

Hull City are to discuss a deal with Aaron Mclean after being given permission by Peterborough United to speak to the striker.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry recently admitted that the club may have to cash in on one of their influential attacking players in the January transfer window.

Craig Mackail-Smith has been linked with a £3million move to the Championship, but it appears Mclean could be on his way to the second tier.

Mclean is one of several striking targets for the Tigers as manager Nigel Pearson looks to pep up a side which has scored just 19 goals in 21 league games this season.

A bid for Swindon Town hot-shot Charlie Austin has been rejected, while reports suggest there is also an offer on the table for Leicester City's Matty Fryatt.

Pearson has also put in place a move for Mclean and the 27-year-old has been given the green light to hold talks over a switch to the KC Stadium.

The former Grays Athletic forward has netted 14 goals for Peterborough this season and has been a consistent scorer since his arrival at London Road four years ago.

Skysports.com understands Hull City have made an offer to sign Matty Fryatt from Championship rivals Leicester City.

Fryatt has struggled for regular football at Leicester under Sven Goran Eriksson and has started only five league games this season.

He was linked with a move away from the Walkers Stadium prior to the loan deadline last month and could now leave the Foxes when the transfer window reopens.

Hull are understood to have been chasing the 24-year-old for several weeks and Fryatt played under Tigers boss Nigel Pearson at Leicester.

Pearson is anxious to improve his attacking options in the New Year and will hold talks with Peterborough's Aaron Mclean after also seeing a bid for Charlie Austin rejected by Swindon Town.

However, the Tigers are likely to face competition to capture Fryatt, with Nottingham Forest and Reading thought to have made their interest known to Leicester.

Forest were reportedly keen on signing Fryatt last month and could try again for the former Walsall frontman next month.

Mackail Smith for £3m? He's a Watford lad but that's a joke....he's worth £500k if you want to waste money.

Aaron Mclean looks to be on his way for around £1m.

Apparently Swindon want £1.5m + 500k depending on how well he does which we aren't willing to pay. I would personally pay that for him but it looks like we are going to look towards Fryatt instead.
