You're much much better off getting adjustable dumbbells. With those, you'd run out of room for improvement and then they are basically just useless. With adjustable ones, you can always get more weight. I would recommend going for cast iron ahead of vinyl too.

Ah so the proper ones? If you know what I mean, where you can add weights etc?
Do press ups do much for arms?
I should know more I have a GCSE in PE, a qualification in CYQ (Gym) and a distinction in fitness and training for the public services

3 sets decline bench press
3 sets incline on bench press
3 sets flies
Feels good man.

Yep, that's what I mean by adjustable, they're way more useful as you can progress. One of the most important things about lifting is the progression.
Normal press-ups are mostly chest, however if you do them with your hands close together in the middle you can work triceps too.

Cheers Zzonked.
Obviously I want to just get my arms a bit bigger, I don't want to turn into a carpet carrier like.
I'm going to start jogging tomorrow, then do press-ups then I'm going to invest in some dumb bells.

Let me just say, you're not gonna stumble into being 'too' big, it takes absolutely ages and a lot of effort.

I don't do decline because I heard it's very ineffective for everything.

Probably, changes routine up a bit though, plus it's fun nearly sliding off the bench.Jayx1012 wrote:Theo Filippo wrote:Done a new chest routine today:

Today I did a simple chest routine, it was hot as shit outside.
Bench press 4 x 8-10
Flyes - 4 x 8-10
Incline Bench - 4 x 8-10
I filmed some.

Not sure tbh. I'd say about 10-15kg.

Looked a bit short, but it fits your bench well. Mine's really irritating, the bench bit that holds the bar is exactly where you'd want to put your hands.
Did you get any tanning done after that?

Yeh I've got a few bars but that one suits me and the bench perfect. Nope, should probably get some in though.

I have the same problem as you when I do DB flies, see how your elbows bend a bit when it gets harder?

Yeh when your body struggles it tries to find the easiest way to do something. My form's pretty good overall though, didn't have a clue until I watched that.

At which point in the movement do you mean?

Re: Weight Training and Fitness Thread.
You can see in the last couple reps i bend my elbows to bring the weight slightly closer to push it up Zzonked. Its not something you do on purpose but more instinct when it gets hard.

Training in my garage is like training in a sauna with this weather, the bar kept slipping out of my hands because of sweat.

Re: Weight Training and Fitness Thread.
I haven't been gym for 2 weeks it makes me feel shit, but I've had exams and stuff I've been focusing on.
Gonna start going again from Monday as I'll have loads of time again.
I'm hoping to go everyday except weekends.
What's the best thing to do that way? Full body work out each day or focus on specific area each day? I'll be doing lots of cardio anyway, an will probably do and every day or every other day (what's best?)
If someone could give me a but of help that'd be great

If you hit the same body part two days in a row, you're going to have a bad time, I'd even recommend 2 days rest in-between the same body part.
